About this trip

A wonderful experience! Very well planned with a range of school settings and traditional experiences included. I learnt a lot and felt very inspired by the passionate educators (both in Finland and on tour) and loved every minute. Accommodation was beautiful and breakfasts delicious. Finnish porridge is divine! Only wish the tour had been longer!

We had a great time. Thank you. The visits to the schools, especially the forest schools were amazing! All the schools were very welcoming. The organization from Angela and the "Scoop team" ran smoothly. One highlight would have to be the sauna and lake experience.  I learnt a great deal about the education system in Finland and bought some "Moomin" books as well to read to my children at kinder, after visiting the museum.   

The trip was amazing, wonderful teachers, brilliantly organized! The tours were amazing, and the schools we visited were very welcoming.  I would recommend this tour for the school visits as well as the cultural immersion tours.

New York City 12 -19 April 2025

This tour included some sightseeing experiences unique to Finland, including an excellent sauna experience. We visited four interesting schools, although it would be good to see the range of schools from early childhood to upper secondary. I learned so much from these tours of the facilities, interactions with students, networking with other participants, and lectures from Finnish professionals. I definitely recommend this tour, but give yourself a few sightseeing days after the tour has ended to enjoy all the sights!

19-26th April 2025 Principal & Leadership Finland Study Tour

This tour was the perfect balance between visiting schools and sightseeing - both as a group and free time. Because of the time of year I travelled, I wasn't able to see public schools as they were on school holidays. Staying right near Times Square had us perfectly placed to see as many Broadway shows as possible!

The trip has been an awesome Hauora experience and an interesting educational one.  The accomodation was comfortable and the kai was great.  The rōpū were a great mix.  Our facilitator, Jess, was outstanding.  We knew about everything well in advance and she continually shared ideas etc to make our time even better.  The Nature and Sauna experience were both highlights.  The school visits didn't really hit the leadership role of a principal but the supporting lectures added the layer of context needed here.  Rahola & Sampu School were excellent examples of what we were hoping to see.  While Harjunitty & Lauttakyla Schools were interesting we were really just treated to a tour of the buildings with no leadership expertise to add the layer of context Principal's were looking for.  As these schools had either students or a teacher show us around it felt more like viewing a new school build rather than understanding the educational philosophy of Finland and the challenges of delivering, managing and leading.

So much valuable professional learning in a well organised, fun-filled and memorable week. Definitely recommend this as an opportunity of a lifetime.

This New York Tour has been a once in a lifetime experience, both as a tourist and as an educator! I have learnt and observed a different aspect of looking at teaching which I will definitely take with me into my own classroom!  I’d like to thank, both Angela and Jess for such a well organised and rewarding experience!

This was a fantastic tour! It is the perfect balance of work and play. The school visits and lectures were insightful and provide a great introduction to the Finnish education system. The extra activities were so much fun! Everything about this trip, from the hotels, to the activities and the internal travel ran like clockwork. Angela is extremely well organised and is always available to help out wherever she can! I highly recommend this tour. 

Lapland Arctic Study Tour 10 - 18th January 2025

The trip was amazing. New friendships made and learnt interesting facts and ideas from Finland education. The extra activities that are included to add the tourist feel are exciting to participate in  and join. 🙂

We had a wonderful time exploring Lapland with a husky dog sled ride, reindeer sleigh ride, snowmobiling a Northern Lights tour and visiting Santa Land. Going to the Oulu to visit several different Finnish schools and learn about their education system was so enlightening and encoring as an educator. 

It was a once in a lifetime trip. It was well organised, very well planned and generally just a wonderful experience. Thank you for all your efforts.

I thoroughly enjoyed every part of this trip. The school visits were interesting and the teachers and principals who hosted us were incredibly engaging, informative and passionate. What great advocates for their school and system as a whole. The accomodation was comfortable, the food was delicious and the people were all friendly and considerate. I loved trying local dishes and learning about the culture, history and food both from our guide and those who hosted us. Angela was a wonderful, approachable and warm host who made us feel welcome and safe from the minute we met her. The additional activities were all great fun and helped tick off many boxes of experiencing this wonderful country to its fullest. Thank you for creating such a wonderful opportunity for us!

The trip was very well organised and combining a trip to Rovaniemi and visits to Finnish schools is genius. 

It was an amazing experience visiting the 'best in the world' education system, an eye opener and always great to network with other Principals and teachers. The city Helsinki was fantastic to start with and Tampere another dream place to be involved with. Thank you to the caring host Christine and Angela who is the mastermind behind all of this along with our Finnish hosts. He mihi nui ki a koutou katoa!

Principal Finland Study Tour 5-12th October 2024

Huge thank you to Tours for Teachers and Learning Scoop for what will be a memorable experience for many years to come. It has been a tour not only of reflection and learning but also gaining new friendships. 
The balance of the tour was perfect and I throughly enjoyed the lectures then going out to schools and seeing the key principles that are foundation to the Finnish system being implemented. There is so much learnings to take but also importantly coming away we have learnt that our teachers do an amazing job in supporting each learner and stretching their capabilities and developing their skills with less resources and support in the classroom. I would throughly recommend this tour for educators.

The trip to Finland was well balanced and thoroughly enjoyable. It included great opportunities to learn about and experience Finnish culture as well as their education system. A highly recommended opportunity if you ever get the chance! 

The trip was a great way to meet Principals and hear their stories. Visiting Finland was definitely not what I expected, aspects of the education system surprised me, yet other aspects built a new appreciation of the talented teachers we have here in New Zealand.

This was the best 7 days!  This trip had the perfect balance of theory and relaxation.  The location was incredible, the company was awesome and Angela had everything planned perfectly.  I would highly recommend using Tours for Teachers.

I had an amazing time! Relaxed, refreshed and energised after spending time in an incredible resort and meeting fantastic educators from all over Australia and New Zealand 

The tour was well organised, interesting and great fun. I would love to do something similar again.

The tour was well coordinated, offering a diverse range of school visits and activities. It provided invaluable insights into Finnish culture, their educational system, and the community dynamics. Accommodations were cozy and conveniently located near city centres. We explored a multitude of schools, engaging in insightful discussions afterward. The most enriching learning moments occurred during the afternoon sessions, boosted by Angela's thoughtful provision of local chocolates, which kept the group energized and focused. Overall, it was a truly enriching educational and personal journey." 

I thoroughly enjoyed my week in Finland.  It was a great group, everyone was very friendly and some very insightful conversations were  had plus lots of fun at all the extra activities.  The school visits were invaluable, along with the thorough explanation of how the Finnish education system works.  The whole trip was extremely well planned and organised.  Thank you, I will certainly try to get onto another trip in the future.

We had a great time travelling and learning in Finland. The organisation, from accommodation to school visits to university lectures, ran like clockwork. The study tour was an amazing opportunity to immerse myself in the Finnish education system and culture. I thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The school visits, university lectures, and optional activities were well-organised, thought-provoking and made for an extremely engaging week. I had a great time. Such a wonderful group of people - fruitful discussions, lots of food for thought and loads of laughs! A great mix of theory and seeing schools in action. I couldn't recommend this trip more highly to any teacher who is interested in making improvements to their teaching practice. Wish I'd done it earlier in my teaching career!

Finland 6-13th April 2024

Enjoyed a wonderful week taking in the sights of London and visiting schools. Thanks Angela for organising a wonderful time for us! Can’t recommend #toursforteachers and #danitheguide enough- dream team!

From the moment Angela welcomed us, we felt surrounded by friends.  No question was too difficult to answer, and everything was a grand adventure!  I loved every moment - from conversations with children about their education, to the hard q and a's about education with other professionals and how we can make things better in our corner of the classroom.  Thank you for the extra experiences as well!  We will never forget our first ice bath in Finland, or how to grip the ice in spikes.  We were fortunate with the good weather as well.  The team from Learning Scoop partnered perfectly with Tours for Teachers, and were very encouraging in all our new experiences! 

I think as in any PD, we also learned much from each other in the tour group, and hopefully we will keep in touch.

As a Counsellor of a number of primary and high schools in my region, I found the Finland 2024 tour especially exciting as the model of practice for student and staff wellbeing was very different from what we are resourced to provide back home. It was my observation that student wellbeing and mental health really starts at the early education/ pre-primary school level where the students direct and drive their own journey through their education, through play-based learning that continues until they commence basic education at 7 years of age.  

I highly recommend Tours for Teachers with Angela to anyone interested in learning more about the Finnish education system and will definitely be back for London or Lapland tours in the next year or so!!

We had a fantastic time with the school visits and the sightseeing and the food. A great mix of everything. The accomodation was spot on walking distance to everything. Great to meet up with teachers from Australia and USA. Would definitely recommend this tour. For a first time to USA great experience for me.
